Day 7, July 13--Spamalot

...and on the seventh day, we kept driving.

Today was a beautiful day in America. From our sunrise start in Wisconsin to our sunset siesta in North Dakota, I gotta say - Happy Sunday! The picture above comes from the Spam capital of the world, in Austin, Minnesota. The innovation of canned ham and lure of free samples won over a drive to Minneapolis and the Mall of America. Hormel Foods is headquartered close to I-90 and the Spam Museum. As a professed omnivore, I can attest to the tastiness and magic that goes into anything Spam-related. Thank you, mumsy! Anyway, the museum did not dissappoint. Adrienne and I learned so many interesting facts about Spam, and other Hormel products that when trivia night resumes in the fall, BWV (Black, White & Vegan) will be unstoppable!

Next,, in the words of Willie Nelson - "on the road again", Adrienne and I jumped back on the highway midday to make our way through Minnesota and into South Dakota. Funny thing that no Willie Nelson was heard along 470 miles, but plenty of other country hits were coming out of Camila's speakers. Stay tuned for the XC playlist. I can tell you know that the "I kissed a girl" song is unfortunately going to be on it.

So, here we are. The day of traveling is done, I sit punching into the iPhone, enjoying beef jerky and a tallboy of Budweiser and Clamato (mmm tangy!), while Adrienne sits beside sunning in the 86 degrees and reflecting tranquility of Lake Mitchell at our picturesque campsite. The Corn Palace was enjoyable, I can't stalk anymore about it.... and tonight we're going to the drive-in.

Fun Fact of the Day: The start of the Mississippi River is between Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Next Stop: Mt. Rushmore & The Badlands

So the Bud/Clamato doesn't make it onto the XC beer rankings?...tastes like cherry chapstick?

It is so much fun reading your blog every day to see where you are and what you are doing. I love it. D
P.S. Wisconsin Dells has been a resort area for over fifty years. I my days it was mostly "nature" activities. From your description it seems that they have graduated to bigger & better things.
