I feel like I need to preface this picture by saying that my best friend's husband, Will, used to live in Chicago above a Mexican restaurant called Twisted Lizard. I feel like we hear about this restaurant an inordinate amount...he absolutely, positively LOVES this place. And there is no dish that we hear more about than the Queso Fundido (see above). So, that said, our entire day today was built upon the fact that we were having dinner at Twisted Lizard in Lincoln Park. Call it an homage to Will.We started out with a semi-rotten banana and a bar for breakfast, and then headed out. Let me also say that sleeping in a bed seemed miraculous after the tent. It may be a rough couple of weeks ahead of us. We walked over to Wrigley Field, and had ourselves a look around, but opted not to waste our day watching the Cubs. By that time, it was lunch, so we headed to a place called Coobah, and had some grub. After lunch, it was more walking and exploring. We ended up strolling along Lake Michigan, which was lovely.
Having never seen the Great Lakes before, I am seriously astonished by their size. And Lake Michigan isn't even that big! Fun Fact of the Day: Lake Superior is so big, all of the other Great Lakes could fit inside it. Isn't that nuts? It is pretty cool that Chicago essentially has an ocean right in the hear of downtown. You would never know it is a lake except for the lack of waves and salt! We both were very impressed with the outdoorsy-ness of Chicago, at least in the summer months. I do not want to see winter here!
So then it was dinner at Twisted Lizard with Jamie and his girlfriend, Becky, my friend from camp, Sarah Canale, and some of Jamie's friends (Abe, Livia, and Jos). We scarfed down some super-yummy food, including the aforementioned Queso Fundido.
Then it was off to Abe's house for some good old...beer pong?! I've gotta say, it took me by surprise, because his house was super swanky. And I mean, uber swanky. I guess that is how they do it in the Chi.
One last night on a mattress! (I have found a new love...the memory foam pillow...I think we are going to have to find a Bed, Bath, & Beyond or something in Wisconsin...it could revolutionize the camping experience...)

Queso Fundido looks AWESOME! Enjoy the road food and no chasing the cheapest gallon of gas (bring a bag to breathe into once you see it at $5). Can't wait to see you soon!! xoxo
If you guys do not have a roll up mat to put under you sleeping bags, get one, soon. I think they even make memory foam ones, but even a thick yoga mat makes a world of difference.
i'm lovin it! moma
I love the blog you guys! SOO glad JMB has no experienced Twisted... bring home some Chihuahua cheese:)
