Day 22 (part 2)-- Vegas, baby, Vegas!

We arrived in Las Vegas around 4:30, and ckecked out the Strip via car, before checking in at Luxor. The most incredible thing to me is just how many people there are! We waited in a line long enough to be in an airport to check in, and it was like walking in Times Square everywhere we went.

We decided to check out Cirque Du Soleil's Zumanity, which was a mix between a circus, a burlesque show, and a cabaret. Entertaining? Yes! Afterwards, we strolled among the mobs of foreigners along the strip before heading to a low-key dinner. We lost a whopping $7 in the casino before turning in...yes, we are old farts. But remember, we hiked the Grand Canyon in the morning!

Fun fact of the day: the light shining out of the top of Luxor's pyramid is bright enough to read by 10 miles into space! So much for those Grand Canyon stars!

oh man, if you thought it was hot in Grand Canyon, just wait until you sit out and bake in Death Valley. If you see a place advertising Date Shakes, stop and get one - they are fabulous, and definitely a mojave desert specialty.
